When do supermarkets reduce food?
The first thing to know is that shopping for discounts isn't an exact science! Supermarkets reduce foods approximately three times per day starting with as little as 10% discount up to a whopping 75% discount in the evenings. Time it right and you can get a bargain.
If you don't fancy the reduction time game, the general rule is to shop later in the evenings (often between 8pm and 9pm) and especially on a Sunday a couple hours before they close. You'll likely find a good selection of reduced items if you follow this guide.

P.s Although Waitrose isn't a cheap supermarket they surprisingly do excellent reductions throughout the week. We bought a huge lamb joint that had been reduced from £25.00 to £6.00 with one day left on the use by date. But don't worry about that date, simply freeze it when you get home for up to 3 months. (Just cook it on the same day you defrost it). I wouldn't go out of my way to find a Waitrose, but if you have one locally, it's worth checking now and then.
Shopping in the reduced section is a great way to save money, but there are a couple tricks to maximise the savings. I've put together a quick guide to saving even more.
Happy bargain hunting Xx
